Marriage Licenses are obtained at the Mariposa County Clerk’s office in the Hall of Records (across the street from the Court House):
Hours are 8:00AM to 5:00PM, Monday through Friday, closed on Holidays. Both parties must be present to apply, and will be required to have two pieces of identification, including one photo ID. If either party has been married and divorced previously, he or she must give the date of divorce. If the divorce was finalized within the past twelve months, then a copy of the dissolution decree must be presented.
The license will be issued at the time of application, and is good for three months. Because of the time required to complete the application and issue the license, you should arrive at the office before 4:00PM. If you choose to have the County Clerk perform the wedding ceremony, please call and schedule a time in advance, to be sure the clerk is available.
