Tenaya Lodge Nature Walk
Leaving the park via Highway 41?
A great bet with young children, this one-mile nature walk works well as a scavenger hunt. Just park in the dusty area by the lodge on Jackson Road, then do what we do with our daughter—make hiking a game. To find at this time of year:
Flowering dogwood trees
Tall sugar pines (5 needles per bundle)
Ponderosa pines (3 needles per bundle)
Incense cedar (Lacy evergreens that look and smell like Christmas)
Manzanita (Beautiful red bark shrubs presently in flower with pink buds)
