All are all invited to spend a day of music and celebration Saturday June 18 from Noon to 9pm at the Mariposa “Cousin Jack” Arts Park in downtown Mariposa.
Free BBQ lunch (first 200) and free music by; Madera Bill, The Adam Burns Band, Good Medicine, The Trespassers, Timberline, Bret Nielsen Band, DeWitt and Franklin, Inky’s Band, Brent Schroeder, Jean Butterfield, Ronnie Sweeting, DeWitt and Franklin, Electric Blue, and other fine musicians. As in past years there will be free raffle tickets (must attend to receive tickets) for kids 12yrs and under with an opportunity to win a new Guitar. There will also be an a raffle for the adults. Ticket purchasers will have a chance to win various exciting gifts!Since his passing in 2003 the Cousin Jack Music foundation has sponsored this free event as a memorial and birthday celebration to Mariposa’s Honorary Mayor and Ambassador of Good Will, Cousin Jack Franklin.
This year, we will have available at the festival , a new foundation sponsored limited CD album compilation of original Mariposas music, from many of finest musicians – plus a bonus Cousin Jack song.
The Cousin Jack Music Foundation was founded in 2003, by the Franklin Family as a memorial to “Cousin” Jack Franklin who dedicated many years of his life to promoting music and the arts to the youth of Mariposa.
The primary goal of the Cousin Jack Music Foundation is to continue the work of Cousin Jack by” Promoting passion for Music and Arts in the youth “ the foundations mission statement.
This year, the Cousin Jack Music Foundation will present a $1,000 Music Scholarship to a Mariposa High School student during the event.
Since 2003 the Foundation has awarded over seven thousand dollars in music scholarships to a Mariposa High School Senior, this has been made possible by contribution from the Franklin Family as well as generous donations by the community.
